Here are a few questions that you might have…

Realizing that you or your child may need professional help may be overwhelming at first. Dr. G will provide a safe space where together you can build rapport and set goals. Together, you will work to determine the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to the distress.

Dr. G’s goal with all her clients is to give them the tools that they need to manage their challenges and create long-lasting improvement that they can take with them into the future. She will tap into their strengths and teach them how to successfully navigate any challenges they may face in life.

Therapy is about a relationship. Using a client-centered approach, Dr. G will explore all the areas that may be contributing to the distress and discuss the evidence-based skills that can be successfully used.

Because every situation is different, there is no set time on therapy. Dr. G uses her clients’ goals and successes as a guide to give them a sense as to when it’s time to end therapy and take the skills they’ve learned out into the world.

While Dr. G does not accept insurance in-network. She can provide invoices or monthly “superbills” for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.

It’s easy. You can fill out the form, call the office, or email her directly. We will schedule a free 15-20 minute phone consultation.

Again, therapy is all about relationships between the therapist and the client and how they work together to reach the client’s goals.

Sometimes, therapy can feel easy, especially when we’re laughing and talking about positive events. Sometimes, it can seem hard, because we will be talking about uncomfortable thoughts, situations, and feelings. While that can feel challenging in the moment, that’s where the growth happens. Each positive step you take brings you that much closer to your goal!

Sometimes, addressing a problem can start the healing process. Sometimes, a client won’t realize the exact nature of their issue until they start talking about it. Talking is discovery. There are other ways in which talking about a problem can help.

  • You realize you’re not alone. Sometimes, just knowing that others understand what you’re feeling is a great relief.
  • Talking about your problems allows you to release pent-up feelings.
  • Talking about your problems is the best way to figure out the solutions. It allows you to start to see different perspectives. It’s a way to accept the problem and navigate your way through it.

By talking about what’s troubling you and getting to the bottom of the source, you can learn new skills you can take with you your whole life. When you encounter these feelings again in the future, you’ll know just what to do to handle them.

It often only takes getting over the hump of the first session and, at times, a little parent coaxing for children and adolescents to realize that therapy is not about finding out what is wrong with them. Dr. G approach is to help them find what is interfering with their ability to be their best selves. Dr. G has found that these clients often quickly discover the power they have over their thoughts and behavior and come to appreciate and welcome the therapy process.
